Wooden siding comes in two types.
Build a door with wood siding.
Sheet siding is easier to install.
The outsides of this door will be 1 1 2 thick which is standard for an exterior door.
Remove the siding with a flat pry bar from the area above the doorway.
Place the plywood on top of the frame apply wood glue and secure it with screws once it s aligned.
Individual pieces of lap siding and sheet siding.

Apply wood glue on all top surfaces of the pieces of both your inner and outer frames.
If you plan to make this for the interior it will be too thick to fit the existing jamb and you will have to modify your plan for accents.
Flip the door so that the newly attached plywood side faces down.
Next cut boards to frame the top bottom and sides of your door then glue them in place using wood glue.
Attach the plywood sheet to the back of the door.
Be sure that the door you make is the proper thickness for your door jamb.
Do this cleanly because part of the siding will have to be put back on the side of the house later.
Both types are cut to fit against the sides and top of a sliding door frame.
